ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN III
MY WORKS
PROJECT 2B
[ THE DISCOVERY CENTER ]
Building upon the groundwork established in Project 1 and Project 2A, Project 2B involves designing a visitor center for Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest. The center aims to facilitate user exploration and discovery of the area's people, place, activities, culture, and history. It encompasses interpretive exhibits, a museum-like exhibition, interactive "edutainment" programs, and spaces for park rangers to brief visitors. Additionally, the center serves as an informative hub for recreational activities and the surrounding areas.
REFLECTION:
Through this project, I acquired a deeper understanding of the significance of establishing strong engagement and relationships with the site, people, culture, history, spatial experiences, and programmatic requirements. I explored the concept of small-scale community building within an open or suburban context, considering factors such as site analysis, user needs, environmental sustainability, buildability, and spatial poetics.
Additionally, I gained proficiency in various software tools, including Revit for plan drawings, AutoCAD for laser cutting, and 3D rendering applications such as Twinmotion and Enscape. I also improved my skills in Photoshop and Procreate, utilizing them to enhance my 3D rendered images.
PROJECT 2A
[ THE DISCOVERY CENTER (GENIUS LOCI)
- SITE ANALYSIS, SITE RESPONSE AND DESIGN CONCEPT ]
'Genius Loci' is influenced by society, culture, history, memory, and the surrounding landscape. These aspects serve as the foundation for the architectural concept and generators, which involves designing a Discovery Center for Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest. This project emphasizes the importance of creating an architectural response that deeply engages with the site and fulfills the programmatic requirements. It necessitates a thorough analysis of the site context, which provides parameters for developing an appropriate architectural solution that aligns with the place's significance and contributes to its overall context.

REFLECTION:
Successful site understanding requires a combination of intuitive, personal perspectives, as well as quantitative and measured approaches. Through the learning process, I acquired the ability to conduct comprehensive site analysis and effectively communicate findings using visual representations. Utilizing diagrams as powerful tools, my group highlighted essential elements, relationships, and patterns within the site. This approach provided a deeper understanding of the site's characteristics, guiding our architectural design decisions to ensure a fitting response to the site's distinct context and significance.
PROJECT 1
[ POETIC JOURNEY STRUCTURE ]
Poetic architecture prioritizes creating a spatial journey that provides an immersive and expressive experience, captivating users through their senses and engaging them with a captivating narrative. By blending aesthetic beauty and purposeful interactions, this approach leaves individuals with a deep sense of fulfillment.

REFLECTION:
The learning journey enabled me to understand how to effectively communicate emotions and sensations through the design of structures. I discovered that poetic architecture emerges from the art of shaping and the language of design, creating a unique spatial experience for users. The primary objective is to establish a profound connection between individuals and architecture.
