ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN II
MY WORKS
PROJECT 3
[ DESIGNING WITH ARCHITECTURAL PRINCIPLES + MATERIALITY + CONTEXT + USER: TROPICAL WILDLIFE DISCOVERY UNIT ]
Introduces the notions of concepts, program & process in architectural design, understanding of user specific design requirements, notions of space, form & function in architectural design and awareness of site-specific design & the process of site analysis.
We are required to design a Tropical Wildlife Discovery Unit at Bukit Jalil Recreational Park. The Discovery Unit includes a tropical rainforest discovery space, working space, resting area, discussion space, and washroom within a maximum built-up space. The structure is limited to have a maximum built-up space of 100sqm and be able to comfortably accommodate two people in a brief amount of time.

REFLECTION:
I learned how to interpret and analyse simple site context while also designing a simple building type that meets user requirements whilst still preserving site context along with balancing internal and external design values.
PROJECT 2
[ DESIGNING WITH ARCHITECTURAL PRINCIPLES + MATERIALITY: TROPICAL RAINFOREST DISCOVERY PLATFORM ]
Exploration of conceptual and operational procedures to create an insightful gesture of architectural spaces. We explored the potential meanings and implications of these architectural principles to form two areas: generating forms and crafting spaces.

We are tasked to design and build a Tropical Rainforest Discovery Platform with spatial experience, with a maximum volume of 125 m³.

REFLECTION:
Upon completing this project, I acquired the ability to design a simple structure utilising architectonics. The main takeaway is that materialities and detailings are crucially important in capturing the design's experiential qualities.
PROJECT 1
[ DIAGRAMMING ARCHITECTURAL PRINCIPLES ]
Exploring the abstraction of 2D and 3D spatial composition to better understand architectural design.

We are required to conduct a background research on the assigned architect and the selected key building and to produce a complete set of architectural drawings in scale 1:50.

REFLECTION:
I was given the opportunity to learn how to translate my findings into architectural diagrams, as well as how to create architectural compositions out of solids, planes, lines, and frames. Overall, this project taught me how to create architectural diagrams and diagrammatic models adequately.
